PASADENA, CALIF. (PRWEB) MAY 03, 2018 – TextMarks, a leading provider of text messaging services, today announced that Torrance Transit System has selected TextMarks as the SMS platform for its real-time bus arrival information. Serving close to 4 million riders on an annual basis in the South Bay region of Los Angeles County, Torrance Transit System makes trip planning easier by letting bus riders know about the status of their trip in real-time.
Torrance Transit has already been offering access to real-time bus arrival information through their website and its mobile app called Transit, which launched in April of 2017. Now, through TextMarks SMS platform, more riders can access the same information through text messaging.
“Torrance Transit wanted to make real-time trip planning faster, more efficient and user friendly for our patrons,” said Kim Turner, Transit Director of the Torrance Transit System. “We wanted to offer a suite of real-time products that caters to those who are savvy with modern technology and those who are more accustomed to utilizing the basic text format – such as senior citizens or students. Paired with the new bus stop signage that we are currently installing throughout our system, traveling with Torrance Transit has never been easier or more convenient.”
To use the service, Torrance Transit bus riders can text the keyword “4TTBUS” followed by the stop ID number to 41411. Stop ID numbers and these simple instructions are posted on over 300 new bus stop signs through the city and LA County region. Torrance Transit plans to cover all 800 bus stops by the end of the summer.
“Torrance Transit has been forward-thinking in using TextMarks powerful SMS API for dynamic content, giving them the ability to smoothly integrate SMS with their service” said Dan Kamins, CEO of TextMarks. “We are very excited to partner with Torrance Transit System to help ensure easy access to real-time bus information for its riders.”
TextMarks’ fully-hosted SMS solution and simple, easy to remember short code are supported by all major US Carriers. TextMarks API supports dynamic, request/response text messaging through customizable transit and GPS integration.
