Transfort Unveils New Rider Tools Including SMS Text Alerts
Earlier this month, Transfort, the City of Fort Collins’ public transportation provider, launched the MAX Bus Rapid Transit Service. MAX is the largest public infrastructure project in Fort Collins history and is also is the first bus rapid transit system in Colorado. Transfort ridership is expected to reach 3 million by 2016, which includes many more 18-to-34 year olds opting to take public transportation instead of drive.
In addition to MAX, Transfort has unveiled a number of Rider Tools to help riders plan their routes and get accurate bus times. Along with their website, riders can use a mobile app, call for route information, and request real time bus arrival information by SMS texting, powered by TextMarks. To receive bus times on their phone, riders simply text TFORT and a stop number to 41411 (message and data rates may apply).
Text alerts are a fast and easy way to get real time arrival information and can be accessed through all phones. With SMS, riders will no longer have to wait long at their stop and they can plan their trip based on more precise arrival times.
