National Burger Giant Finds Even More Room For Growth With SMS Marketing Campaign

One might think there is no new ground to discover when it comes to marketing in the fast food burger industry. But for Carl’s Jr., one simple mass SMS marketing campaign drew instant results for minimal costs.

The burger chain launched a text message-based marketing program recently that invited customers in Texas and Oklahoma to text in a keyword to sign up for four to five group SMS messages a month. As an incentive, Carl’s Jr. offered a promotion on a number of popular menu items, including the Jim Beam burger, discounted combo meals, and Western Bacon Cheeseburgers.

The promotion paid off, as Carl’s Jr. reported SMS redemption rates around 15% to 20% on most promotions. And with relatively few customers opting out of this valuable service, the chain can develop an established, rock solid marketing database that should serve them well for years to come. This just goes to show that no market is too saturated or too established to benefit from an infusion of new opt-in group SMS blood.
