Pepsi Offers SMS Users the Star Treatment
One of the world’s largest beverage producers leveraged the power of SMS to communicate with customers.
Pepsi’s new promotion used a unique SMS keyword plastered on beverage cups at participating Regal Cinemas. Theatergoers entered a sweepstakes by texting their keywords to the short code 699376 (MOVIES) for a chance to win a trip to Los Angeles and attend a viewing party for the 2014 Academy Awards.
PepsiCo’s director of media relations, Gina Anderson, says the company has learned “consumers are more willing to engage in a promotion via SMS than other methods of entry because it’s quick, convenient and now an extremely commonplace form of communication.”
