Club promoter Sid Ishay has successfully marketed his business by text message using TextMarks for years. When it comes to SMS Marketing, he definitely know what works and what doesn’t. We spoke to Sid earlier about how ClubLife used TextMarks to promote clubs and parties and asked if he could also share a few text message marketing tips that any business or organization should keep in mind. Here are 5 tips for marketing by text:
Provide special offers, deals and discounts only to those who are on that list. “Every person on my list manually opted in themselves. This tells me they want what I have to offer. ”
Integrate your text campaign into everything you do.
Include your text call-to-action on every image you post on your social media accounts. Make sure every one of your employees promotes your text call-to-action. “My text service has become ME. It has become the brand.”
Don’t send out several messages about the same thing in one day.
Don’t annoy your subscribers! “I have reduced my opt out rate significantly. I used to send out 4-5 messages per day and my opt outs were high. Now, instead of 40-50 people opting out, I’m down to 4 or 5.”
Use a text messaging service that doesn’t lag.
When selecting a SMS provider, select one like TextMarks that has proven to be reliable. “My business requires a text to be received right away, not put in a queue where it takes several hours to get through the whole list, and not blocked or marked as spam. When I push send, my entire list of several thousand people receive my text within minutes.”
Keep your texts focused on what you said you were going to send.
Don’t send messages that stray from your original purpose. When people opt-in, they are subscribing to what you say you’re going to give them. “My texts are about a club. I’m not going to send a text about the food truck outside or anything else.”
